Zapatec Introduces Zcounts to Minimize Spam and Give Users Control Over Web Accounts in a Single Location

BERKELEY, Calif., Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ — Zapatec, Inc., a leading provider
of Web 2.0 development tools, today introduced Zcounts, an application that
gives Internet users full control over all their online accounts from a single
location. Zcounts is a multifunctional tool that helps users better control
spam from e-mail addresses provided to third-party entities, track all
accounts created on the Web and improve personal security by generating random
passwords that are stored in a central location.

“The amount of e-mail that individuals receive at work and at home today
is often overwhelming. It is compounded by the fact that users provide their
e-mail address for accounts they create, or when signing up to newsletters,
which results in even more unwanted messages and spam,” said Dror Matalon, CEO
of Zapatec. “Zcounts has been specifically designed to give users the power to
manage where e-mail is coming from and better organize online activities.
Users can choose to give their real e-mail address only to people they
personally know and create Zcounts for everyone else.”

Zcounts is a new module for 6zap, a single-page AJAX application providing
users with full-featured e-mail, calendar and contact interfaces that have a
familiar look and feel. 6zap offers full desktop functionality without the
complexity of other collaboration platforms on the market today.

With Zcounts, users can generate a unique e-mail alias and random password
– or Zcount — for each new online account they create, whether it’s for
newsletters, subscriptions or other Web sites. All e-mails are then forwarded
into users main accounts, where they also can save all of their account and
password information. If specific alias e-mails begin receiving spam, users
then can delete that Zcount to stop incoming e-mail from the offending
organization. As an added benefit, Zcounts helps users identify which
organizations share their e-mail addresses with third parties.

6zap is now available as a beta version, and is available as a hosted
application for individuals and small businesses. Service providers can use
6zap in two ways. The 6zap software can be downloaded and installed on their
servers, or it can be launched on Amazon EC2 as an Amazon AMI under the
business’ account, taking less than an hour to set up. In both scenarios,
businesses have full control of the application, enabling them to add or
remove users, customize features and integrate the application with other
software. For more information, visit http://www.6zap.com.
