CircleUp Launches SmartMessage(TM) Platform to Streamline and Monetize Group Communications

Posted on: Wednesday, 10 December 2008, 07:00 CST

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CircleUp, Inc., the leading group messaging service for destination Web sites, has launched its SmartMessage Platform for integration with partners that serve groups in the participation sports, nonprofit, education, faith based and club / association markets. The SmartMessage Platform is a private label group communications and commerce foundation for membership software providers and Web sites, facilitating not just communication, but the ability to monetize message streams.

In a separate announcement today, eteamz, a division of The Active Network and the #1 resource in team sports, is deploying the SmartMessage Platform across all eteamz sites where it is now available to millions of users.

The SmartMessage Platform is highly scalable and operates across major social, media, commerce and communications networks with a single address directory. It aggregates group messages in a single sharable result to make the message stream always actionable, efficient and up to date.

The Platform addresses the key pain points associated with communications among groups. It will help sites increase engagement, retain volunteers and supporters and encourage repeat visits to customer sites. SmartMessage allows partners to focus their development resources on their core business rather than communications infrastructure across multiple networks or devices. It offers the opportunity for incremental premium revenue streams beyond advertising that are shared between CircleUp and its partners.

"The SmartMessage Platform integration with eteamz gives all our teams and groups a major revolution in team communications," said Christopher Hall, General Manager of eteamz. "With this advancement, our teams will save tons of time and improve team effectiveness by eliminating the drudgery of plain old email and replacing it with smarter messaging delivered across a variety of communications networks at the choice of our users."

The SmartMessage Platform delivers two key benefits to partners:

-- Groups of any size respond to messages in a SmartMessage box launched from their messaging application and share a single, organized response page with everyone's messages, instead of an unmanageable blizzard of individual responses. The SmartMessage Platform infrastructure means smarter messaging in group communications, converting emails, instant messages and Facebook communications to powerful, template based information gathering and sharing tools

-- Messages can be delivered across any network, including email, instant messaging, social, commerce and media networks

"We provide our partners with a valuable platform of messaging technology that is easy to integrate and provides tremendous utility for their millions of users, saving them tons of development time in a macroeconomic climate where everyone is resource constrained," said John Payne, CEO of CircleUp. "The premium services bundled with the SmartMessage service will create significant revenue for us and for our partners at a time when they are actively looking for ways to supplement basic advertising revenues."

The core SmartMessage Platform is a free hosted service for CircleUp partners and their users and is available now with API's for single sign on, contact database integration and site integration. Bundled with the platform will come a suite of premium services for end users which produce convenience fee, affiliate commission and wireless revenues which are shared with partners based upon volumes of usage.
