Houston Zoo Selects Agresso as ERP Solution

VICTORIA, British Columbia, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ — Agresso, has announced
today that Houston Zoo has selected Agresso to replace their legacy accounting
and purchasing systems. After reviewing a variety of options in their
year-long selection process, the zoo ultimately chose the superior agility and
long-term value of the Agresso solution over Epicor for their finance and
procurement needs.

Agresso targets its solutions to change-oriented organizations, such as
non-profits, local governments and professional services, which it calls
Businesses Living IN Change (BLINC)(TM). Nowhere else can the terms ‘living’
and ‘change’ be more in evidence than at Houston Zoo. As an organization
dealing with living creatures, Houston Zoo has some very unusual purchasing
and inventory requirements. When your “residents” consume almost 5.7 million
live crickets, 2.5 million worms and thousands of pounds of other exotic food
annually, your procurement processes demand something special.

“Agresso’s promise of post-implementation agility is an ideal fit for us.
We needed the flexibility and adaptability to make changes to our system over
time; no other vendor offered that capability,” remarks Leslie Forestier, CFO
of Houston Zoo. “We were also very impressed with their ‘knowledge transfer’
philosophy to product ownership. It was clear that Agresso understood our
business needs and unlike other vendors, their implementation methodology
would ensure our staff gained the skills and knowledge necessary to be
self-sufficient. We have frequent changes in our reporting structure, new
donor funds emerging regularly and numerous new projects that create very
challenging reporting requirements.” Forestier adds, “It’s an empowering
position, when you know your own business users can respond to these kinds of
changes.”

Agresso provides a cost-effective solution for achieving
post-implementation agility via the company’s “VITA” architecture. An
architecture that allows organizations to continuously change underlying data,
operational processes and/or reporting requirements at a minimum level of cost
and business disruption — integral in today’s economy. “The more customers
we talk with, the more we hear how critical it is to be able to respond to
business change, without incurring the significant fees of external
consultants,” relates Shelley Zapp, president of Agresso North America.
“Non-profit organizations are especially interested in taking control of their
own ERP systems and having more control over costs.”
