AT&T Government Solutions is the First Networx Contract Holder to be Awarded Managed Trusted IP Services From the U.S. General Services Administration

Posted on: Friday, 19 December 2008, 13:23 CST

VIENNA, Va., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Government Solutions, a business unit of AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), is the first Networx contract holder to be awarded the Managed Trusted IP Services (MTIPS) from the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).

MTIPS is a modification to the Networx Universal contract that allows federal agencies to order IP services that comply with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandum 08-05 that was issued November 20, 2007. The OMB action calls for implementation of the Trusted Internet Connections (TIC) mandate, which required agencies to reduce the number of connections to the public Internet and to provide secure IP portals for agency traffic to and from the public Internet.

"The Managed Trusted IP Services award from GSA clearly illustrates the continued acceptance of our broad portfolio of product and services that are available under Networx," said Don Herring, senior vice president, AT&T Government Solutions. "By leveraging our secure telecommunications services, our program management expertise, and our professional services capabilities, we will help federal agencies enhance their network security infrastructures under the Networx Universal MTIPS modification."

"MTIPS provides a foundation for evolution of the TIC requirement to secure the federal government IT infrastructure, and a baseline to support initiatives from the incoming Obama Administration," said Jeff Mohan, Executive Director, Networx Program Office, AT&T Government Solutions. "AT&T Government Solutions can continue its long-standing success of providing industry-leading IT and network-enabled solutions to the federal government."

MTIPS combines new secure IP services offerings with existing Networx security services such as Intrusion Detection Services, Intrusion Protection Services, Incident Response, Managed Firewall Services, Vulnerability Scanning, Anti-virus Management, and Managed e-Authentication. Agencies can immediately begin working with AT&T Government Solutions to define their respective MTIPS solutions.

AT&T Government Solutions offers more services in more U.S. locations than any Networx contract holder. The company has announced more than $700 million in Networx awards with customers including the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
