Global Rainmakers, Inc Files $1.2 Billion Tortious Interference Lawsuit Against Sarnoff Corporation

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 January 2009, 08:00 CST

NEW YORK, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Rainmakers, Inc (GRI) announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Sarnoff Corporation (a subsidiary of SRI International) for tortious interference, slander, unfair competition and deceptive trade practices. The lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, alleges that Sarnoff interfered with a prospective $253 million licensing agreement with a third-party.

GRI also claims that Sarnoff has impugned, defamed and denigrated the Company and its HBOX(TM), a multi-modal biometric recognition device which can acquire an individual's iris and face, in real-time, at a distance and at a rate of up to 50 people per minute. GRI believes Sarnoff's actions were a deliberate attempt to systematically and improperly gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. The Company's lawsuit seeks injunctive relief, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.

"We are turning to the courts to seek relief from the impact that Sarnoff Corporation has had on our ability to do business," said Hector Hoyos, chairman and chief executive officer of GRI. "Our HBOX technology is groundbreaking, and the actions taken by Sarnoff has caused us significant and material damage."
