MILLET, Alta. (CP) - An RCMP cruiser collided with a semi-trailer Monday on the main highway south of Edmonton.
The accident, which the police said was serious, forced the closure of Highway 2 near Millet. Traffic was rerouted onto secondary roads and highways. There was no immediate word on injuries.
The Mountie in the cruiser was from the Wetaskiwin detachment, police said.
Highway 2 was recently renamed Queen Elizabeth Highway to honour Her Majesty during her centennial visit to Alberta.
