Strategic Management Group Simulation Helps Boost Sprint's Sales

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 2003--Strategic Management Group, Inc., (SMG) the market leader in simulation products and services that accelerate time to value of corporate initiatives, announces that its simulation-based project with Sprint has generated an estimated $25 million in net revenue for the telecommunications company. This figure is based on a Return On Investment study by Sun Microsystems, Inc., for Sprint.
"The simulation has helped energize and empower our sales force," says Mark Bowser, head of Sprint Business Sales. "It's successful for two reasons: 1) It's a creative approach; 2) It shows us what it takes to improve our overall sales and productivity."
Sprint contracted SMG to develop a solution to help Sprint's Business sales force achieve broader and deeper relationships with their customers, create more compelling value propositions and work more effectively internally and with client teams. This solution came in the form of a computer-based sales simulation, developed by SMG, to parallel the Sprint selling process. In the simulation model, Sprint sales teams had to make decisions quickly while encountering different scenarios to try and win accounts with three fictional companies. This model provided the capstone to an entire set of activities developed by SMG.
"Simulation provides significant value to drive sales initiatives," said John Kirwan, SMG's sales practice executive. "It's a compelling, collaborative, engaging vehicle to get a sales force to understand not only new ways of selling, but the impact of their account decisions on the business."
