Additionally, the PXI Systems Alliance today announces PXI adoption is expected to exceed 100,000 deployed PXI systems by the end of this decade (2000 - 2009). This is a major milestone for the open, multivendor PXI standard and represents an estimated 300,000 PXI modular instruments and related devices deployed during the same decade. The open, software-defined architecture of PXI based on high performance PC technology has become the industry standard for automated measurement and automation systems. According to industry analyst Frost and Sullivan, the strong adoption of PXI systems is expected to continue with a projected compounded annual growth rate of 17.6% through 2014. The PXI Systems Alliance members look forward to assisting scientists and engineers with using PXI for their measurement and automation needs in 2009 and beyond.
