HSPA+ and LTE, two leading mobile broadband technologies, to be examined in PCCA conference, along with emerging mobile broadband applications.

HOOD RIVER, Ore., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Portable Computer and Communications Association (PCCA) today announced that in an upcoming March 4 technology conference in Dallas it will examine how the mobile broadband market has reached critical mass by focusing on two key enabling technologies, High Speed Packet Access Evolution (HSPA+) and Long Term Evolution (LTE), as well as the emerging applications and platforms these wireless technologies enable.

The PCCA is a leading non-profit association comprised of companies working together to address interoperability and optimization in mobile computing. Today the PCCA announced the agenda for its HSPA+ and LTE mini-conference, which will be in a symposium format with technical presentations followed by discussion periods. Vendors are also being invited to provide demonstrations. The PCCA event, is sponsored by 3G Americas (www.3gamericas.org), an organization that supports the deployment of the GSM family of technologies throughout the Americas.

"Mobile broadband is taking off thanks to faster networks, attractive handheld devices, sophisticated operating systems and innovative applications and services targeted for mobile users," said Chris Pearson, President of 3G Americas. "We are pleased to sponsor this meeting so that attendees can better understand the factors leading to rapid market growth, the capabilities and workings of the technologies and deployment strategies."

The PCCA is unique in bringing together key technologists from across the mobile computing industry, including those representing networks, devices, infrastructure, operating systems and applications. Attendees have a unique opportunity to interact with leading experts and ask probing questions that generally cannot be addressed in other industry forums or conferences.

"We are fortunate to be able to have market leaders present on these tremendous wireless opportunities, including Alcatel-Lucent, AT&T, Award Solutions, Ericsson, Nokia and Qualcomm," said Peter Rysavy, executive director of the PCCA.
