Posted on: Monday, 19 January 2009, 14:23 CST

WAUKESHA, Wis., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- iQ Academy Wisconsin, the state's largest online school, announced today it is expanding its curriculum to include courses for middle school students in grades 6 - 8. The expansion is being spurred by the success of the school's online high school program.

"The iQ Academy curriculum is focused on providing Wisconsin students a flexible, personalized education, including small group instruction and one- on-one interaction with state-certified teachers," said Lisa McClure, Director of iQ Academy Wisconsin. "We have seen how our high school students excel with the individualized curriculum and attention and we are excited to expand that opportunity to middle school students."

iQ Academy Wisconsin is a nationally recognized online school that is currently open to Wisconsin students in grades 9 - 12. Middle school students in grades 6 - 8 will be eligible to enroll for the 2009-10 school year. iQ Academy Wisconsin teachers provide individualized attention to students and moderate dynamic online classroom lectures and discussions. Once enrolled, students access courses online and may receive supplementary written material and participate in off-line labs and field activities as required. Full-time students receive use of a computer if they do not already have one. As in traditional public schools, these learning tools are provided to students at no cost for as long as they are enrolled in iQ Academy Wisconsin.

The award-winning curriculum at iQ Academy Wisconsin includes over 120 core, AP(R), and elective courses taught by certified Wisconsin teachers. In addition to core courses in math, science, social studies, and English, students may also choose from a wide range of electives including five world languages, 16 Advanced Placement courses, and high-tech classes such as digital imaging, Web design, and Java scripting.

Wisconsin students in grades 6 - 12 can enroll tuition-free either full- time or part-time at iQ Academy Wisconsin for the upcoming 2009-10 school year by applying during Wisconsin's open enrollment period, February 2 - 20, 2009. iQ Academy Wisconsin will be hosting open houses throughout the state in January and February to share more about the program and provide demonstrations of how the online classroom operates.
