SEATTLE, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In stark contrast to the dire news emanating from many technology companies in recent months, Tableau Software(R) (http://www.tableausoftware.com), the global leader in fast analytics and data visualization software, today announced its 16th consecutive quarter of record sales, capping off a tremendously successful 2008.

"During the past four years, we've developed a rapidly growing and loyal customer base because we've consistently delivered on our vision of making it easier and more affordable to ask questions of data," said Christian Chabot, co-founder and CEO of Tableau Software. "Tableau's Desktop and Server products install quickly, require minimal training and deliver business intelligence at a fraction of the cost of traditional BI tools. With some exciting new products on tap, we expect to continue growing in 2009 as companies look for the tools that will allow them to compete and win in a challenging economic climate."

Tableau Software is used for data visualization across a wide variety of industries, with blue-chip customers that include Google, Apple, Cirque de Soleil, Cornell University, Dow Jones, Pfizer, Sony and Wells Fargo. Among the many new customers acquired in Q4 2008 are:

+ AAA Allied Group, an Automobile Association of America (AAA) agency serving several areas in Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.

+ Active Network, Inc., the largest provider of technology solutions for online registration sites for sports, event and league registrations.

+ Ingenuity Media Group, a division of the Martin Agency, the #3 advertising agency in 2008 according to Advertising Age.

+ Mitel Networks, a leading provider of communications solutions with more than 100 locations in over 90 countries.

+ Ray White, an Australian real estate giant with nearly 1,000 individual offices in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia.

+ University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), a university serving 19,800 students and with faculty research specializing in areas such as environmental science and engineering.

+ U.S. Auto Parts, a leading online provider of aftermarket auto parts, including body parts, engine parts, performance parts and accessories.

"Like many companies, we're looking for efficiencies across the board," said Ben Winkler, vice president/director of interactive media at Ingenuity Media Group. "We selected Tableau because it delivers a rapid return on investment. Our data analysts adopted it widely and quickly. Its visual analysis capabilities provide rapid insights into our clients' businesses that have allowed us to make faster, smarter and more impactful decisions."

In addition to its continued sales growth, 2008 marked a number of significant milestones for the private, Seattle-based company. In June, Tableau held its first-ever customer conference, which sold out within days of being announced. In August, the company closed a $10 million investment round led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), the largest venture capital firm in the country. The company added more than 50 employees in 2008 and continues to hire to meet growing demand for its data visualization products.
