Motorola Extends Cable PON Portfolio to Deliver Flexible All-Fiber Networks to Cable Operators
Agreement with Alloptic adds proven RFoG solutions to Motorola product line to further enhance “broadband everywhere” offerings
A key trend in the cable industry is the extension of fiber deeper into the network to provide increased video capacity, voice and ultra-broadband data services to business and residential customers. To meet this need, Motorola offers a broad portfolio of fiber solutions, including its widely deployed fiber deep hybrid-fiber-coax (HFC) and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) portfolios. With this agreement, Motorola rounds out its comprehensive Cable PON portfolio of hybrid and all-fiber access network solutions ready for cable operators.
“The strong interest in RFoG solutions by cable operators stems from their increased need to deploy new and operationally sensitive business and residential network architectures,” said Dr.
By helping to protect existing investments in infrastructure and customer premises equipment, RFoG minimizes capital expenditure and provides cable operators the ability to gracefully evolve to an all-fiber network. Motorola, an active member of the RFoG industry standards effort, is now uniquely positioned to provide current and next-generation cable access solutions to cable operators worldwide.
“Motorola’s experience and extensive cable operator customer base, many of which are seeking to extend the reach of fiber in their networks, provide the perfect channel for Alloptic RFoG solutions,” said
The RFoG product line gives cable operators the ability to launch existing video, voice and data services over an all-fiber network supporting residential and commercial service applications where legacy voice and new IP-based services are needed.
