Agito Networks Customer Selected as a Finalist for Leading Analyst Firm’s Wireless & Mobile Excellence Award
company delivering new technology in enterprise mobility, today announced that
one of its enterprise mobile convergence customers has been named as a
finalist for the Gartner Wireless & Mobile Excellence Award.
Selection of the finalists for Gartner’s Wireless & Mobile Excellence
Award was determined by Gartner analysts. As a finalist,
Agito Networks customer Anthony Marano Company, will present at the Gartner
Wireless & Mobile Summit 2009, to be held
Located near downtown
with fine fresh produce from its state-of-the-art distribution center. The
400,000 square foot facility contains 73 docks to receive and ship more than
1,400 types of fresh produce. With Agito’s RoamAnywhere(TM) Mobility
Router(TM), Anthony Marano Company enables continuous high-quality voice
coverage for its mobile produce buyers and sellers, which need to be
accessible at all times to receive and fulfill an average of 3,000 orders
throughout the day.
According to Nowak, Anthony Marano Company’s large metal and concrete
facility makes cellular communications impossible for the staff which is
constantly on the move between produce areas, shipping docks, receiving docks,
and internal and nearby offices. Accessibility is critical because the staff
deals with fresh produce, a perishable commodity. A missed call could easily
cost the company thousands of dollars, Nowak said.
“We are more successful and make more money when our buyers and sales
staff get calls the first time around, and calls don’t land in voice mail,”
said Nowak. “In addition to addressing our coverage issues, Agito delivers
high-quality voice, which is critical for us because our handheld devices are
the primary means of communication. RoamAnywhere’s unique seamless handoff
capability is a technological leap from previous solutions we have seen and
tried. Its high availability is also very important to us.”
Nowak noted that Anthony Marano Company’s previous mobile convergence
solution was an Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) system, which did not integrate
into the company’s Avaya Definity 8710 PBX or give mobile users the unified
communications functionalities they required. In addition to Agito’s
RoamAnywhere and Avaya’s PBX, Anthony Marano Company’s enterprise mobile
convergence ecosystem also includes T-Mobile and AT&T cellular service, Nokia
E66 and E71 Series smart phones, and Meru Networks WLAN access points.
“Agito gives us a competitive advantage because we now have the ability to
respond quickly,” said Nowak. “RoamAnywhere offers us the whole package, and
our users they are impressed with the voice quality, address look up
synchronization, and speed of handover moving inside and out. Agito lets us
be productive and mobile with the fastest seamless handover we’ve seen, unlike
previous solutions we’ve had, and it provides us with excellent voice quality
over WiFi. It gives us a big boost in productivity, and was easy to deploy on
the administrative side.”

Networks vice president of marketing and the company’s co-founder. “The
