Expands Broadband for Mobile Applications and Interactive Content for More Places in Delaware
DOVER, Del., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ – Watch streaming video of your favorite TV show. Surf the wireless Internet at lightning speed. Share live video during a wireless call. These are just a few of the things you can do on the go with AT&T’s* third-generation (3G) wireless service. Today, AT&T announced it has turned on sixteen new cell sites to enhance 3G mobile broadband network coverage for those who live, work and travel to and through the Greater Dover area.
More of Delaware’s visitors and residents now will be able to take advantage of the nation’s fastest 3G network, according to recent data compiled by leading independent wireless research firms. With the addition of 3G technology to these cell sites, AT&T’s ultra-fast wireless network is now available in Dover, Clayton, Smyrna and neighboring communities.
“AT&T is committed to delivering high-speed and dependable wireless access for consumers and business customers who need to stay connected to work, family and friends,” said
J. Michael Schweder, President, AT&T Mid-Atlantic Region.
“Our expanded mobile broadband coverage in the Dover area lets customers use their wireless devices in more ways. We’re constantly enhancing coverage and capacity to give our customers in Delaware a top notch wireless experience every time they use their AT&T device,” said

Benefits of the AT&T 3G Network
AT&T’s 3G service opens the door to a new era of mobile services, devices and feature-rich audio and video content, including the simultaneous sharing of voice and live video. This rapidly expanding network, combined with a cutting edge lineup of 3G devices — from the BlackBerry Bold(TM) to the LG Incite(TM) — provides customers in Delaware with innovative options for their mobile communications needs.
Delaware consumers can take advantage of value-packed national rate plans and features available to AT&T’s customers across the country, including Rollover(R) Minutes, a feature exclusive to AT&T that allows customers to keep their unused Anytime Minutes from month to month for up to a year. Customers on eligible AT&T calling plans can also take advantage of a free mobile to mobile calling community to reach any of AT&T’s 77 million wireless customers without an additional charge.
AT&T’s 3G network is now available in 350 major metropolitan areas in the U.S. Its wireless network is based on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) technologies, the most open and widely used wireless network platform in the world. As a result, only AT&T Mobility can offer 3G data roaming in more than 60 countries, including Japan and South Korea, as well as voice calling in more than 200 countries, in addition to AT&T’s constant 3G expansion in the U.S. Nearly all devices in AT&T’s current portfolio are “world phones” that can be used around the world.
