SunGard Availability Services Announces New Managed Services Facility in Philadelphia

SunGard now the Largest Information Availability Data Center Operator in Philadelphia Region

WAYNE, Pa., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- SunGard Availability Services has opened a third data center in Philadelphia that will provide its customers with IT infrastructure and managed services to help ensure their business systems are always up and running. SunGard has invested $25 million in the new 120,000 square foot facility in Philadelphia which will help customers avoid capital and operating costs associated with building and operating their own data centers.

With a total of 350,000 square feet of operations space among its three Philadelphia facilities, SunGard's concentration of business continuity and disaster recovery facilities is the largest in Philadelphia and is expected to attract more than 30,000 customer visits this year. SunGard Availability Services employs more than 400 employees in Philadelphia while SunGard overall employs 2,700 employees in the Greater Philadelphia region.

SunGard's managed IT services allow customers to run business systems and applications at a SunGard facility rather than build and support their own data centers. SunGard solutions include hosting services, application services, e-mail and collaboration services, network services, managed security services, storage services and replication services. It has a redundant power infrastructure with two independent power sources -- each of which can power the building -- and an emergency back-up generator. The facility has advanced security and environmental monitoring and is equipped with a redundant HVAC system that incorporates best practices to maintain a stable and energy efficient environment. The center also provides customers with workstations so they can conduct business on-site.
