BB&T's Redesigned Web Site Includes Online Application for Checking, Savings and Money Market Accounts

Posted on: Tuesday, 5 July 2005, 15:00 CDT

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., July 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BB&T Corporation today said it has unveiled a new Web site with updated design and features, including online account application for checking, savings and money market accounts.

The redesigned site - at http://www.bbandt.com/ - reflects BB&T's rapid growth over the past decade, said Paal Kaperdal, eBusiness manager. The site has evolved from an information-oriented tool to a full-service delivery channel with online products and services. BBandT.com records more than five million visits per month.

"The newly designed Web site helps clients find solutions quickly, whether they want the convenience of a checking account, need to buy a home, invest for the future, save for an education or manage company finances," Kaperdal said.

"And now that we've expanded our existing lineup of online account application offerings, clients can open BB&T personal accounts anytime and anywhere. They can easily compare the benefits of our checking, savings and money market accounts, select the one that best fits their need, and apply online."

The new site includes a customer service link on every page, giving clients access to call center phone numbers, office locations, frequently asked questions and other offline and online help.

On most pages, there is a "call to action" section that provides options for clients to take the next step - by e-mail, BB&T's "Phone24" or online applications.

"A Web site can never be considered finished," Kaperdal said. "With this solid foundation in place, we can move forward much more efficiently and effectively to differentiate BB&T, support our brand values and, most importantly, meet the needs of our clients now and in the future."

Winston-Salem-based BB&T Corporation and its subsidiaries offer full- service commercial and retail banking and additional financial services such as insurance, investments, retail brokerage, corporate finance, treasury services, international banking, leasing and trust.

BB&T operates more than 1,400 financial centers in the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Indiana and Washington, D.C.

With $102 billion in assets, BB&T Corporation is the nation's 10th largest financial holding company. More information is available at http://www.bbandt.com/.
