The Qtask Business School Program kicks off in March 2009 with students participating in the Global Business Project (GBP) Consortium offered jointly by the Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBERs) at 11 major universities:: Columbia University, Duke University, George Washington University, Purdue University, San Diego State University, Temple University, University of Connecticut, University of Kansas, University of Maryland, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, and University of Pittsburgh.

The goal of the GBP is to provide MBAs and other graduate students the opportunity to increase their ability to conduct business in cultures other than the US, and in languages other than English, by working in virtual and co-located teams on projects for multinational or local companies in markets critical to US competitiveness. The destination markets for 2009 include Brazil, China, Japan, and Poland.

Qtask will play a pivotal role in the program's success, as it will form the foundation for all of the communication and collaboration efforts among the teams that will work virtually for the first seven weeks of the project as part of their Spring semester courses, and then work together full time on the ground in the project's destination market for the last two weeks of the project.

"Qtask is a perfect tool for the GBP program as it allows team members, their faculty advisors, and their clients to share information and set timelines for deliverables and keep track of each other's progress as the project unfolds," comments Dr. Lynne Gerber, the director of the GBP Consortium and faculty director of the CIBER at the University of North Carolina. "We're very excited to provide Qtask with such an appropriate forum to test and grow their service and we look forward to working with the Qtask team as we seek to expand our program from its present size of 14 projects in 4 countries to 27 projects in 8 countries within the next two years."

Qtask will provide up to 130 free "seats" for the student members of GBP Consortium for three years. The program also appropriate training to ensure all participants get the most out of the Qtask experience.

"We're extremely excited to offer Qtask to the young men and women who will be helping to shape the global economy of the future," commented Gabriel Blanc-Laine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Qtask. "Business experts predict a shift toward remote or virtual teams and transparency as companies strive to find new and more efficient ways to do business, and we wish to provide some of the tools necessary to help today's business students prepare/get an advantage. Our hope is that business programs at colleges across the country will take advantage of what Qtask has to offer in building a better way of operating a business that's built on transparency and accountability."

About the Global Business Project (GBP)

GBP is a unique graduate-level course offered to MBAs and other graduate students at 11 member universities. Unlike other international consulting project courses, the GBP asks students to apply both cross-cultural awareness and foreign language skills to produce strategic advice for companies that is focused, compelling, and actionable. The course offers students the opportunity to increase their global business and language competency through guided hands-on business experience in global markets, while also introducing them to the challenges of virtual teaming. Teams are constructed through a competitive application process with members drawn from multiple any of the member schools.

About CIBERs

The Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBERs) were created under the Omnibus Trade and Competitiveness Act of 1988 to increase and promote the nation's capacity for international understanding and economic enterprise. Administered by the U.S. Department of Education under Title VI, Part B of the Higher Education Act of 1965, the CIBER program links the manpower and information needs of U.S. business with the international education, language training, and research capacities of universities across the U.S. Thirty-one universities were designated as centers that serve as regional and national resources to business, students, and academics. Together, the CIBERs form a powerful network focused on improving American competitiveness and providing comprehensive service and programs that help U.S. business succeed in global markets.
