SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 2003--Symmetricom (Nasdaq:SYMM), the world's leading supplier of atomic clocks and network synchronization and timing solutions, introduced today an upgrade to its Model 56000 Data Rate Clock (DRC) and Distribution Chassis.
Since its introduction in 1995, the Model 56000 DRC has been a leading standard for use in complex civilian and military communication systems, satellite ground and mobile stations, test facilities and engineering laboratories. It is currently the most popular distribution chassis within the secure communications and encryption markets.
The new Model 56000 features complete redundancy, eliminating single points of failure and ensuring reliability by accommodating redundant input references, outputs, oscillators, GPS and power supplies. The DRC has been upgraded throughout to make it easier to meet new and changing security protocols, adapt to a number of network interfaces and choose from a wide variety of references, inputs and outputs.
"The 56000 product family has a long, impressive history as a flexible, reliable industry standard in data rate clocking and signal distribution," said Lisa Withers, executive vice president and general manager of Symmetricom's Timing, Test & Measurement division. "It's become the backbone for today's specialized communications market. With our new upgrades, we're looking forward to continuing success for the product line."
New Model 56000 features include a new CPU/Fault processor housed in a new rack mount chassis, a new Ethernet I/O network interface card (NIC) which includes access via SNMP, Telnet and FTP together with a new HTML interface and a N.1 data rate generator with six independently programmable outputs. The new Model 56000 DRC is available immediately. Pricing varies based on configuration with list pricing starting at $7000.
