Tokyo, July 5 (Jiji Press)--Telecommunications venture Heisei Denden Co. and Dream Technologies Corp. said Tuesday they will jointly start a wireless local area network-based Internet access service in November.
The service will be initially available in urban areas, they said.
In 2006 and later, they are planning to provide high-speed data transmission and voice communications services nationwide based on a long-distance mobile communications technology, called Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, or WiMax.
The two companies plan to set rates for the data transmission service at levels 50 pct lower than those offered by existing carriers.END
