Exar Will Highlight Interface and Power Management Solutions at Embedded World 2009 in Nuremberg, Germany
Posted on: Monday, 2 March 2009, 16:00 CST
Interface Overview
Exar has one of the broadest portfolios of high-performance interface solutions including Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitters (UARTs), serial transceivers -- RS-232, RS-485, and multi-protocol integrated UART/transceiver combinations.
Exar recently announced a new series of high performance UARTs supporting the VLIO bus interface - XR16M581/M681/M781 UARTs. These devices have multiple package, supply voltage, and FIFO sizes which provide system architects more flexibility and superior design options. In addition, Exar has I2C/SPI UART integrated with RS-232 transceivers, and low voltage 1.8V I2C/SPI UARTs with 64-Byte FIFO available in either single-channel or dual-channel configurations.
On display at Embedded World 2009 will be Exar's wireless UART solution - the XR18W750 wireless UART controller, and the XR18W753 - a RF (868MHz to 956MHz) transceiver. It is a serial cable replacement solution that can wirelessly collect data from multiple standalone terminals and route it to a central data concentrator.
Power Management Overview
Spanning across power conversion, system controls and LED lighting applications, Exar's Power Management portfolio offers innovative market proven solutions.
Exar's PowerBlox(TM) family of Point-of-Load (POLA) replacement solutions have gained market recognition by offering one of the highest current density high voltage step-down regulators in its class. Exar's PowerBlox(TM) SP7662 will be showcased at Embedded World 2009 and will demonstrate a 12 Amp down-conversion solution capable of achieving up to 93% of efficiency in less than 7 cm2 of board space. Supported by our online PowerLab(TM) interactive design tool, customized point-of-load solutions can be generated, including bill of material and schematics, and simulated in virtually less than 10 minutes.
Also on display at this year exhibition will be Exar's single-chip high power LED driver capable of driving up to 2Amp LEDs, the SP7600. Targeted at general and architectural lighting with output current capabilities ranging from 500mA to 2Amp, Exar's family of high power LED drivers provide a scalable footprint compatible solution for standard yet upgradable designs.
