Speakeasy Expands Voice and Data Service with Integrated Voice over Ethernet

Posted on: Monday, 2 March 2009, 17:54 CST

Service allows Speakeasy to reach larger companies and those with higher bandwidth needs, at lower costs than traditional telecom services

SEATTLE, March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Speakeasy (www.speakeasy.net), a Best Buy company (NYSE: BBY), launched Integrated Voice over Ethernet as the newest addition to its full line of integrated voice and data services. Speakeasy now offers Integrated Voice over Ethernet at 3 Mbps, 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth, in addition to its Integrated Voice service over T1 and ADSL2 broadband. This innovative new product provides small-midsized businesses with customizable, integrated voice and data options to fit their company size and budget. Speakeasy's Integrated Voice combines voice, data, local calling and long distance over a single circuit and can save companies up to 45 percent over traditional phone service.

"In this economy, our customers are always looking for innovative ways to reduce costs and get the best value for their telecom dollar," said Bruce Chatterley, Speakeasy President and CEO. "Speakeasy's Integrated Voice over Ethernet provides businesses with tremendous savings over traditional telecom service and allows Speakeasy to serve a broader market, accommodating both larger and higher traffic users of voice and data."

The most powerful Speakeasy Integrated Voice over Ethernet option offers 10 Mbps of symmetrical bandwidth, supporting up to 48 concurrent calls, which can typically serve a single location with 250 employees or more. In addition, customers can get more out of this service by utilizing an optional G.729 voice codex, which compresses voice traffic to create a significant reduction in voice bandwidth usage per call, freeing more room for business data traffic over the same connection. As with all Speakeasy Voice products, calls between locations using Speakeasy Voice are free, creating another cost saving idea for multi-location businesses. Speakeasy also offers low long distance calling plans - less than two cents/min - with Carry Forward minutes to preserve any unused minutes from month to month.

Speakeasy is able to integrate voice and data service regardless of a company's legacy telecom infrastructure. Speakeasy can integrate voice and data through analog lines, digital lines and/or directly to IP PBX systems through its direct SIP capability.

Optional features for Speakeasy's Integrated Voice over Ethernet are available as part of Speakeasy's hosted VoIP network, and include Auto Attendant, Hunt Groups and other enhanced features unique to hosted VoIP.

New volume discounts on analog lines and trunks are available now through March 31, 2009, providing up to 40 percent savings on individual trunk prices (trunk - single line carrying voice and data).
