Free Linux Source Code and 2A Library With Leopard Imaging's New HD Camera Boards for TI's TMS320DM365 Evaluation Module

Posted on: Tuesday, 3 March 2009, 09:30 CST

FREMONT, Calif., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Leopard Imaging Incorporated today announced the availability of a high-definition (HD) camera kit LI-5M02 based on a Micron/Aptina 5 Mega-pixel CMOS sensor, which can be seamlessly plugged into the new TMS320DM365 digital video evaluation module (DVEVM) from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). Providing customers with a 720p HD solution, the kit also includes a HD camera board, free Linux driver, application source code, binary files and royalty-free 2A function library (auto-exposure and auto-white balance) for image tuning. For more information, visit www.leopardimaging.com.

Leopard Imaging's camera kit is a reference design for vision, game (hunting) camera and Vo2IP applications. By taking advantage of the multi-format HD video provided by the newly announced DM365 processor with image pipe, the camera offers 720p HD video at 30fps, 2A and imaging processing functions enabling customers to efficiently design HD camera-based products for a faster time-to-market and at a lower overall system cost. In addition, the free Linux driver, demo application source code for both the CMOS sensor and DM365, a royalty-free auto-exposure and auto-white balance library is included for customers to easily integrate or evaluate DM365 2A capabilities. By having the an advanced ISP included on the DM365, developers do not have to be an imaging expert to incorporate features such as face detection or motion detection, and can rather concentrate on differentiating their product with their own unique features.

"By leveraging TI's DM365 processors with multi-format HD video, advanced image signal processing solution and integrated peripherals, Leopard Imaging provides a solid foundation for the innovation of camera-driven applications that can enrich the way people interact, work and play," said Stephanie Evans, DM3x marketing manager, TI.

Leopard Imaging also provides compact (less than 10mm x 10mm) camera modules for several TI digital media processors based on DaVinci(TM) technology, including the TMS320DM355 device. These camera modules cover the whole Micron/Aptina CMOS sensor series from VGA, 1.3 Mega-pixel, 2 Mega-pixel, 3 Mega-pixel to 5 Mega-pixel.
