Interactive Public Service Announcement Video Contest Promotes Responsible Pet Ownership

Posted on: Monday, 9 March 2009, 07:00 CDT

IRVINE, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- A monthly interactive public service announcement (PSA) video contest, hosted by BowTie, Inc., highlights essential pet care topics and promotes responsible pet ownership.

Staring in March, BowTie will provide website visitors with scripts on seasonal pet care topics including nutrition, summer safety and disaster preparedness. Submissions for the first script are available now and are considered for the June contest. Each PSA video should encompass information relevant to the topic, applicable to every animal from horses to ferrets. After visitors have created a PSA that best conveys the message of the topic, they should upload it to one of the following sites for evaluation: http://www.DogChannel.com, http://www.CatChannel.com, http://www.BirdChannel.com, http://www.ReptileChannel.com, http://www.HorseChannel.com and http://www.SmallAnimalChannel.com.

"This is a fun and creative way for devoted pet owners to help educate others on serious pet care issues," explains Editorial Director Melissa Kauffman. "Our website users are amazing and we strongly believe that all of us working together will make a better world for our pets."

The best video, named the Editor's Choice PSA, is awarded 1,000 points for the respective online club (dog, cat, bird, etc.) to apply toward redeemable gifts and merchandise. Winners also receive a one-year subscription, or renewal, to the magazine of their choice.

BowTie business-to-business websites, veterinarypracticenews.com and petproductnews.com, will also post the winning videos online to help increase awareness on these specific pet topics. Each winning PSA video will run across all of BowTie's websites for the respective month, from June to December 2009.

For a sample video and complete contest instructions log onto one of the websites mentioned above and click on the highlighted PSA video on the homepage.

Each website is dedicated to the care of a specific animal or groups of animals. Visitors are offered valuable information on health and pet care, social networking opportunities and web 2.0 features for pet enthusiasts that would like to connect.
