CSC Establishes Virtual Cyber Security Center

FALLS CHURCH, Va., March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today the establishment of a virtual cyber security center that will allow the company and its clients to simulate current and future cyber environments, threats and security solutions. The new virtual environment initially will encompass CSC's Innovation Laboratory in Hanover, Md., Infrastructure Laboratory in Chantilly, Va., and Service Oriented Architecture Center of Excellence in Falls Church, Va.

"Cyber warfare is one of the biggest threats to America, and CSC is applying our proven expertise and global capabilities to help government and commercial customers protect their networks," said James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC's North American Public Sector line of business. "This new virtual facility will allow our customers to witness threats and see how effectively our programs engage to block potentially devastating intrusions."

CSC's cyber security solutions are built upon in-depth understanding of information technology vulnerabilities, knowledge of cyber enemies and proven experience managing enterprise networks and systems. They include security infrastructure, information assurance, cyber offense and identity management offerings. CSC assesses vulnerabilities and determines optimal solutions; designs, implements and manages these solutions; and recommends upgrades to address dynamic cyber threats and evolving customer needs.

The new center leverages CSC's capabilities, which include secure architecture, training and computer emergency response team (CERT) capabilities. Developed through work with clients and suppliers around the world, CSC's expertise includes pioneering the development and implementation of a secure architecture that protects some of the nation's most critical information infrastructures, including those using globally sourced hardware and software. CSC also provides and teaches the forensics curriculum at the Defense Computer Investigations Training Academy, the national training center for cyber forensics. The company's Hampton Roads Training Center provides security and training for Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) services worldwide.

Samuel S. Visner, vice president of strategy and business development for CSC's Enforcement, Security and Intelligence division, leads the program to develop and evolve CSC's cyber strategy.
