The Open Group's Security Practitioners Conference to Explore Future of 'Identity in the Clouds'

Additional Sessions will Focus on Web 2.0 Security, Bio Identity and Authentication

SAN FRANCISCO, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Open Group, a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium focused on open standards and global interoperability within and between enterprises, today announced the plenary agenda and preliminary speaker lineup for its 2nd Security Practitioners Conference (SPC), to be held in London on April 27, 2009 at the Central Hall Westminster. The SPC will be co-located with the 22nd Enterprise Architecture Practitioners Conference and features executive speakers and analysts who will discuss emerging security issues facing global companies, with a primary focus on identity and access management, Web 2.0 and cloud computing.

The Open Group SPC is designed for industry leaders to share experiences and create best practices for the future of information security. The morning plenary sessions will feature a keynote presentation by Adrian Seccombe, CISO of Eli Lilly, entitled "The Future of Identity in the Clouds - a ProSumer's Perspective." Other morning presentations will include a discussion on "Order through KAoS: Simplifying Support for Identification and Access Control" by Jeffrey M. Bradshaw, Senior Research Scientist, Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition, and a case study on ISO 27001 Information Security Management System implementation and certification experience, presented by Tim Holman, QCC Interscan.

The afternoon will be comprised of two focus sessions, the first on Web 2.0 security threats and enterprise adoption issues, and the second on identity management in the cloud. The Web 2.0 Security and Enterprise Adoption session will explore issues and use cases through a panel discussion and presentations on "Security for Web 2.0" by Mark O'Neill of Vordel and "Clouds forecast - doing business beyond the perimeter" by Andrew Yeomans, Jericho Forum Board of Managers.

"Identity in the Cloud" will be the focus of the conference's second afternoon session. This session will feature two presentations and a panel discussion. The first presentation will be from Stuart Boardman, CGI, on "Identity in the Cloud: The Issues", while the second one will be on "User Requirements: The Future of Identity in the Cloud: Requirements, Risks and Opportunities" by Marco Casassa Mont, HP Labs UK. The afternoon will conclude with a panel discussion exploring the far-reaching challenges of identity in the cloud, including ensuring that identities are kept secure and that there is coordination of identity information between the various cloud services and between enterprise identity stores and cloud services.
