Posted on: Monday, 23 March 2009, 13:44 CDT

ProjectMiso.net takes first prize in the CSS category

AUSTIN, Texas, March 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ProjectMiso, a New York-based new media studio, took home the SXSW Web Award in the CSS category at the 12th annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Web Awards for their work on http://www.projectmiso.net. Sponsored by Adobe, the SXSW Web Awards honored 20 of the top Web developers and designers chosen from hundreds of entries submitted across the world.

Baratunde Thurston, editor of The Onion and clever political commentator for popular destinations such as Jack & Jill Politics, The Huffington Post, DailyKos and his own site baratunde.com, emceed the 2009 Web Awards Ceremony.

"We are extremely excited and honored by winning this recognition! We thank SXSW for this great distinction and organizing this awesome event. This will encourage us to continue to work harder and push the limits of online media," said Miah Morshed, a founder.

Soma Ray, also a founder, added, "Although we are a studio with many talented consultants, ProjectMiso.net was a company website created exclusively by the two of us. We wanted to make a website using simple HTML that makes the delivery of information fun and interactive. We used CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and XHTML to achieve this goal."

"As the Interactive festival sees exciting growth year after year, we are continually amazed by the highly innovative companies that submit entries for the Web Awards," explained SXSW Web Awards Producer, Shawn O'Keefe. "We would like to applaud all the 2009 Web Awards winners and are thrilled to see what the future holds for each of these companies."
