InnerWorkings Releases Accredited Online Learning Content for the PSP in Partnership with the SEI at Carnegie Mellon University

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- SEPG Conference -- InnerWorkings(R), the leading provider of practice-based solutions for improving developer skills and software processes, announced today the release of its introductory online learning content for the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Personal Software Process(SM) (PSP). This accredited online course covers the prerequisite skills that software developers need to participate fully in Team Software Process(SM) (TSP) teams. Developed in partnership with the SEI, it offers a flexible, scalable, and cost-effective alternative to PSP classroom training for companies with increasingly globalized needs.

The PSP was established to improve software quality by providing individual developers with a set of disciplined practices for software development, and is a prerequisite for developers who join a TSP team. The InnerWorkings PSP Fundamentals course is the first instalment of a comprehensive program of online learning content supporting the PSP. The company intends to release an approved PSP Advanced course later this year.

PSP Fundamentals is comprised of highly-interactive, exercise-driven modules covering the basic planning, tracking, and quality principles of software development with PSP. Developed in close collaboration with the SEI, this modular and highly-interactive content places a strong emphasis on practical coding assignments. InnerWorkings PSP Fundamentals also blends the best elements of traditional teaching by supporting access to SEI-authorized PSP Instructors (called LiveGuides) who assess and grade trainee assignments, and answer students' questions as they arise.

InnerWorkings is also collaborating with Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico to streamline the implementation of TSP. This development effort stems from Mexico's nationwide TSP initiative, which aims to train 57,000 PSP software developers by 2013.
