HUNT VALLEY, Md., March 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Wisconsin Virtual Learning Academies (WVLA formerly known as WIVA) is expanding its distance learning programs through a new partnership with Calvert Education Services. The Calvert partnership provides several significant advantages to WVLA: more academic control in managing students, greater teacher interaction, a balance of online and offline instruction, and a world-renowned curriculum. Additionally, the Calvert program allows WVLA to retain the majority of their per-pupil revenue providing funding for other district priorities in a difficult economic climate.
"Calvert is thrilled to be partnering with WVLA to provide families in Wisconsin with Calvert's time-tested curriculum. We are committed to a partnership that produces outstanding academic results and meets the specific needs of Wisconsin families," said Jean Halle, President and CEO, Calvert Education Services.
Kurt Bergland, WVLA, Principal, echoed the enthusiasm, "WVLA is delighted to take on a greater role in driving the distance education program for our community. We believe the Calvert partnership brings a rich tradition of excellence and achievement. WVLA has long believed that, whether through virtual learning or in a traditional setting, teachers make the difference in a student's success. WVLA teachers develop a close personal relationship with our students and work with parents to customize an educational program that meets the precise needs of each individual student. By empowering our teachers with Calvert's academic options we will enhance the learning experience and academic outcomes. WVLA and Calvert have a shared educational vision that is very exciting."
WVLA offers distance learning programs to students throughout Wisconsin. Students learn through home-based instruction under the supervision of highly-qualified, experienced Wisconsin certified teachers. WVLA was established in 2003 in partnership with K12 Inc. as one of Wisconsin's first state-wide virtual schools. As the program has matured WVLA has become a recognized leader in distance education and has expanded options that allow them to better respond to the needs of students in Wisconsin.
