Adventure Girl Enters Twitter Top 100 in Just ONE Month

Posted on: Tuesday, 31 March 2009, 04:30 CDT

LOS ANGELES, March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- While big-name politicians and celebrities alike are hiring ghost writers to raise their profiles on Twitter, the now-famous social networking site, travel expert and writer Stefanie Michaels, a.k.a. Adventure Girl, recently made Twitterholic's Top 100.

In fact Michaels was also recently made a "suggested user" by Twitter, a status for which one vendor recently offered $250,000 (and was turned down). In doing so, Adventure Girl joins the ranks of Martha Stewart, Jimmy Falon and Time Magazine.

To date, Adventure Girl has 175,000+ users tracking her tweets, placing her above such high profile names and brands as Heidi Montage, Kelly Rippa, Stephen Colbert, Anderson Cooper, Starbucks Coffee, Good Morning America and the Los Angeles Times.

"For years I've been an online personality and travel expert, fastidiously seeking to get my name out there, garner recognition for my work and stay current," said Michaels. "Now, in just under a month, thanks to Twitter, I feel like I'm finally making it."

As offers and inquiries pour into Michaels on a daily basis, one might ask, "How did she do it?"

Michaels offers her followers unique travel tips and deals, which she is privy to given years of experience as a well-networked travel writer. "There are lots of deals floating around out there that I learn about through word of mouth," said Michaels. "I then pass along the information to my followers, who, in this economy, can't seem to get enough when it comes to affordable travel."

Michaels, who twitters 21 times more often than the site's founders, takes time to answer all of her @replies and direct messages from her "sweet-tweets," a term she coined for her followers. "I think that some of my appeal is that I'm the real deal unlike celebrities like P Diddy who hire others to write for them."
