PGP Corporation Expands SaaS Offering in the Canadian Market

MONTREAL and MENLO PARK, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data protection, today announced Converge Net, a data security technology solution provider, has joined the PGP(R) Managed Service Provider Network (MSPN). Converge Net will offer PGP(R) Whole Disk Encryption as a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription offering to customers in the Canadian market. Through the Converge Net partnership and the PGP MSPN program, PGP Corporation continues to build out its data protection ecosystem and market footprint.

According to a December 2008 Forrester Research report titled, The State Of SMB IT Security: 2008 To 2009, "eighty-two percent of SMBs describe protecting sensitive corporate data and intellectual property to be very important or important business objective for IT security." A great deal of the sensitive data that need to be secured resides on laptops. PGP(R) Whole Disk Encryption provides automatic, standards-based, full disk encryption that enables quick and cost-effective data protection for data on PCs, laptops and removable media. Now Canadian SMBs can now look to Converge Net and the PGP Whole Disk Encryption via a SaaS model, for accessible, affordable, enterprise-class encryption and data protection. Encrypted data is protected against unauthorized access to intellectual property, customer, partner and corporate data.

Converge Net offers a range of security solutions that focus on transitioning current business values and regulatory compliance into actionable information technology objectives for private and public sector clients, including higher educational institutions and telecommunications providers. Converge Net recognizes the importance of establishing an effective practice for data protection and the value of partnering with an industry-leader, such as PGP Corporation. Leveraging PGP(R) solutions, Converge Net is helping its customers implement a data security strategy that enables them to comply with industry regulations, as well as protect corporate data from being compromised.

"With the evolution of security as a service and the increasing need to reduce the cost of IT operations, the PGP MSPN program gives us the ability to address the ever-changing security needs and challenges of a wide range of clients," said Ryk Edelstein, partner, at Converge Net. "By being able to offer PGP Whole Disk Encryption as a hosted offering, we are able to service our customers with a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy, enterprise-grade encryption solution and remove our customers' need to invest in the upfront infrastructure, licensing and product training traditionally required for this type of security solution."

"As a long-standing partner and trusted solutions provider of comprehensive security and compliance solutions, we are pleased to add Converge Net's expertise and skill set to the PGP MSPN program," said Lee Finck, senior director of worldwide channels at PGP Corporation. "Even with the current economic state the marketplace remains highly competitive and data protection is absolutely critical.
