International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)
Since 1980, the Industrial Designers Society of America has been honoring design excellence via the IDEA(R) (International Design Excellence Awards) awards. The program is the premier international competition honoring design excellence in products, ecodesign, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts. After reviewing more than 1500 entries, the judges recognized Motorola's MC17 with an IDEA Bronze award for a design vision that enabled the product to meet the current challenges of the market and grow market share.
iF Product Design Award
The iF product design award was introduced in 1953 and is conferred annually by the German-based iF International Forum Design. Attracting nearly 3,000 product entries worldwide, the iF product design award is one of the world's oldest, best-known design competitions. The iF judges reviewed 2,808 products submitted from 39 countries and awarded 802 products in a total of 16 categories. Built to address the unique requirements of retailers looking to take the in-store shopping experience to the next level, the MC17 mobile computer was honored for its ease of use and innovative, ergonomic design.
Motorola also received an iF product design award for its APX(TM) 7000 portable multi-band two-way radio. The product was lauded for its innovative dual-sided design and compact, rugged form factor - purpose-built to address the unique requirements of government and public safety users.
