SECNAP Enhances SpammerTrap Email Security Solution

QuickScan Signatures Added, ClamAV Anti-Virus Database Updated

BOCA RATON, Fla., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- SECNAP(R) Network Security Corporation today announced the latest enhancement to its award-winning SpammerTrap(R) Email Security solution, including several hundred thousand QuickScan signatures and ClamAV Anti-Virus updates. This enhancement is part of the company's ongoing program to ensure that client email communications are protected by the most advanced security technology available.

QuickScan signatures leverage the ClamAV Anti-Virus scanning engine and database of precompiled rules to detect unsafe attachments such as image, PDF, and Microsoft Office document spam. Precompiled rules are exact matches for these images, with no false positives, and are updated every four hours for maximum accuracy and protection.

Among the new signatures are 500,000 websites labeled unsafe by Google, 3,000 signatures for images found in spam, and 100,000 new phishing signatures. One of the latest phishing scams is an email that appears to be from Visa asking cardholders to submit credit card information by email in order to join the "Verified by Visa" program.

In addition to QuickScan signatures, the ClamAV Anti-Virus engine was updated to a version that requires substantially less server bandwidth during signature loading. This update was made possible through the combined efforts of the ClamAV team, SECNAP development team, and security professionals at SaneSecurity, MSRBL and SecureSiteInfo.

These enhancements are embedded in all new SpammerTrap products and were delivered to current clients during a regularly scheduled system update.
