Posted on: Tuesday, 14 April 2009, 09:33 CDT

Software acts as Virtual Host on Second Life Island to Enhance Visitors' Experience

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Conversive (www.conversive.com), the leading provider of integrated live and automated Web chat, today announced that its Conversive Live Automation solution has been integrated with Second Life's 3D virtual technology at the IBM (NYSE: IBM) Virtual Green Data Center (VGDC) located on IBM's Virtual Business Center island.

"IBM is a true thought-leader in the online 3D arena," said Robert Williams, Conversive's Chairman and CEO. "IBM's selection and use of Conversive Live Automation in its Virtual Green Data Center within the Second Life online environment makes a powerful statement about the software's quality, performance and effectiveness. We are excited to see an industry icon embrace our unique technology for such a challenging and important task."

Visitors to the VGDC are met by a Conversive-powered interactive greeter who welcomes them, answers their initial questions and provides directions to places of interest. Visitors can pose questions about the cutting-edge IBM equipment at the VGDC at any time by chatting with the Conversive system. If a question cannot be answered by the software's automated response capability, an IBM customer service representative seamlessly engages with the visitor using live chat.

Conversive Live Automation is a proprietary chat solution that fully integrates automated and live online conversation to provide the most efficient use of resources and personnel. It provides highly accurate and context-sensitive answers to queries. Conversive Live Automation can decrease staff burdens by automating up to 80 percent of visitor inquiries, allowing customer service representatives to handle questions more efficiently and effectively. Over time, the information base can be updated so even more visitor queries can be automated.

"There is little doubt that this application of Conversive Live Automation software will enhance visitors' experience on IBM's VGDC. They will be able to learn more during visits as Conversive's technology is designed to ensure that virtually no question about the VGDC goes unanswered," Williams said. "Just as important, customers will gain real-time insight into its own clients' interests, needs and concerns, gaining far more effective insight into the sales funnel."
