Autonomy Unveils Additional Intelligent Legal Connectors for iManage Universal Search Solution
Posted on: Thursday, 16 April 2009, 03:00 CDT
In addition to providing a single intuitive search window across disparate systems, law firms can now leverage the power of Autonomy's Meaning Based Computing technologies to conceptually and contextually understand the meaning of information in all of these repositories and 'connect the dots' among related information through conceptual categorization and automatic hyperlinking. With all relevant information at their fingertips, customers can now fully automate a wide range of legal specific business processes.
"By extending access from within the iManage Universal Search solution to
these extremely helpful legal resources, litigation support professionals and
lawyers can now automatically find relevant case law, hyperlink to all other
relevant cases across all research sources and package it up with other
WorkSite materials for presentation to a general counsel," said
The new intelligent connectors allow customers to seamlessly connect to the following additional legal applications:
- LexisNexis InterAction CRM System - InterAction is a CRM system used by law firms. It holds important information regarding clients and their relationships with the firm: who knows whom and information on areas of knowledge and expertise. As a result of the integration with IUS, the information stored in the law firm's CRM system can now be linked to the data in other systems. For example, a lawyer searching for a particular client can use IUS to not only find the client's details as they exist in the InterAction system, they can also see related client information across other systems, such as who are the key internal contacts, recent documents created, and billing information for the client. This helps to spotlight the tacit knowledge that exists within the law firm. - Practical Law Company's Legal Knowhow Services - PLC is the leading provider of legal know-how, transactional analysis and market intelligence for lawyers. With the new connector, a lawyer working on a brief leveraging specific case law will now be shown all of the relevant PLC commentaries in a single intuitive search window, thus improving effectiveness and accuracy. - Carpe Diem Time and Expense Tracking System - Carpe Diem is a time and expense tracking software deployed by law firms that holds financial information about the billing and expenses of lawyers with reference to clients and matters. This connector not only allows lawyers to mine their time entries, it also enables the system to 'learn' and find experts based on their billing activities. The new intelligent connectors also allow customers to seamlessly search several legal-specific research sites. These websites are owned by governmental and private agencies, containing a wealth of research information related to regulations and trends in specific domains. The connectivity enables firms to apply the IDOL technology in IUS to index and process information on these sites, enabling users to not only search these sites but also perform advanced functions, such as automatically alerting a user as relevant information on these sites changes. Some of the key sites include:
