ClipWay implements a secure transmission protocol to optimize bandwidth, especially over Inmarsat's BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) mobile satellite service. The protocol features four different compression qualities, ideal for a variety of usages and requirements. ClipWay offers a suite of services designed to meet the needs of a wide range of customers, including media professionals, mobile workers and maritime users.
Stratos is one of the world's largest distributors of Inmarsat's BGAN service, which uses portable, lightweight terminals to provide simultaneous video (up to 384 kbps streaming), high-speed data (up to 492 kbps) and voice connectivity anywhere in the world. BGAN is ideally suited to enable communications in areas where terrestrial or cellular networks are damaged, congested, non-existent or too difficult to deploy.
Since its introduction in late 2005, BGAN from Stratos has been widely adopted by media organizations, military agencies, first responders and professionals in many other industries worldwide. Stratos now boasts more than 10,000 BGAN activations in 185 countries.
Stratos will demonstrate its BGAN offering and SeaMobile's ClipWay application at NAB booth OE411.
Today's announcement establishes SeaMobile Europe as a Stratos ECO-Partner for land mobile satellite services. Stratos' ECO-Partner program combines the best satellite services, airtime solutions and value-added partners to offer customers a total single-source solution.
