LAS VEGAS, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- JMR Electronics, Inc., a leading value provider of scalable storage systems for video and data intensive applications, is debuting its Fibre Channel RAID solution, FibreStream(TM), at NAB 2009 today. With playback speeds exceeding 1,300 MB/s, JMR's technology capability breaks the speed/price barrier by offering yet another affordable, enterprise-class storage system to the marketplace.

FibreStream is ideal for today's 24/7 workflow intensive rich media and critical data IT markets where powerful sustained performance, absolute data integrity and supreme reliability in a storage system are key factors for business continuance. FibreStream delivers unparalleled performance and data protection for applications in standard and high-definition video post-production, digital prepress, disk-to-disk backup, audio post, email compliance, data warehousing, data mining and transaction based environments.

Standalone or when added to an existing Storage Area Network (SAN), the FibreStream RAID array can be configured for RAID levels 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 10, 40, 50 or 60. Its rackmount enclosure contains sixteen hot-swappable 3.5-inch disk drive canisters for 3 Gb/s SAS or SATA-2 disk drives, which creates a powerful and dense storage array of up to 32 TB (24 TB available now using 1.5 TB SATA-2 drives and up to 32 TB using upcoming 2 TB SATA-2 drives) in a single 3U RAID shelf. To expand storage beyond the sixteen internal drives, simply daisy-chain the FibreStream system to JMR's BlueStor SAS JBOD Expansion unit - multiple expansion units can be connected in this manner to create truly customized storage. A recent FibreStream test (transferring 10 MB file size on a Mac PRO) resulted in read speeds of up to 1,345.76 MB/sec and write speeds of up to 814.5 MB/sec.

"FibreStream is the highest performance per dollar Fibre Channel system available on the market," said Josef Rabinovitz, JMR's President/CEO. "For years, Fibre Channel offerings were always an expensive choice, and the high equipment and operational costs associated with proprietary technologies put SANs beyond the budgets of many small and mid-sized businesses. FibreStream, like the rest of our BlueStor(TM) line, provides post facilities and broadcasters alike with cost-efficient and application focused products that generate strong ROI while significantly reducing overhead," he added.

FibreStream integrates enterprise class chassis and backplane design with ATTO Technology's FastStream(TM) embedded Storage Controller technology. FastStream is designed as a microATX RAID controller which integrates with SAS or SATA storage to provide instant RAID protection and advanced intelligence features.

FibreStream is available with either two or four 4 Gb/s Fibre Channel host ports and are supplied with drive carriers (fully compatible with all BlueStor product disk carriers), the selected number of disk drives as ordered, all rack mounting brackets and hardware, and a RAID array management/GUI on CD-ROM. The energy-conscious, RoHS and SES 2.0-compliant design is further enhanced by its redundant, hot-swappable N+1 dual power supplies and cooling fans.
