Neverfail Group Launches New Data Rollback Module Designed to Ensure Data Restoration

Posted on: Friday, 8 July 2005, 12:00 CDT

New Module Rolls Back Application Data To A Previous Point In Time To Quickly and Easily Restore Data With Minimal To No Data Loss

The Neverfail Group, a leading global software company providing affordable data protection, high application availability and disaster recovery solutions designed to keep users connected to business critical applications, today announced the pending release of the Neverfail Data Rollback Module. The Data Rollback Module rolls back corrupted application data to a previous point in time when the data was in a consistent, accurate, and operable state. Availability is scheduled for fourth quarter of 2005.

In today's business environment, enterprises face everything from virus attacks and application malfunctions to simple, but devastating user errors. No matter the initial reason for the failure, the resulting data corruption can quickly yet thoroughly paralyze an entire organization's ability to operate productively. Neverfail's Data Rollback Module ensures that IT personnel can simply roll back business-critical application data to an earlier point in time and restore it to its previous, proper state regardless of what type of IT disruption caused the problem.

Neil Robertson, CEO of the Neverfail Group, comments, "Today, enterprises encounter everything from virus attacks to user errors. No matter the reason for the data corruption, its results can quickly jeopardize an organization's ability to operate effectively or at all. With Neverfail's Data Rollback Module, companies can simply roll back business-critical data to a previous point in time and reinstate it to its proper condition. Neverfail solutions have always focused on removing user downtime, whatever the cause. Data Rollback Module extends our protection to address data corruption, while delivering world class recovery times after the event."

Neverfail's Data Rollback Module leverages Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) technology to ensure the highest level of compatibility across the Microsoft environment. By taking shadow copies of a secondary passive server, Neverfail avoids the typical "freezing" of an application that normally occurs with VSS on a typical production server; thereby permitting more frequent shadowing than in a single server topology. More frequent shadowing means greater granularity -- up to 512 snapshots can be stored at any one time in an ultra-efficient format that only keeps track of differences between snapshots.

Neverfail's Data Rollback Module provides businesses with the following benefits:

-- Recovers data from a physical or logical corruption to a consistent point in time

-- Provides "one button" rollback and application restart in the event of a corruption

-- Integrates with Neverfail's High Availability and Disaster recovery solutions to provided complete application availability no matter the cause of outage.

-- Eliminates all overhead associated with taking "snapshots" against the production server

-- Reduces required storage significantly by only capturing the differences between data and allowing consolidation of older data images

Robertson continues, "Because Neverfail's Data Rollback Module is incorporated directly into our standard management console, administrators can use a single interface to customize their own snapshot schedules. If data corruption does occur, administrators can then rollback data to any of their snapshot points with the simple click of a button."
