New Microsoft Operating System Raises Complaints

The Financial Times reported that Microsoft Corp's next version of Windows is creating complaints of anticompetitive behavior from rivals that say the new version of the operating system gives unfair advantages to Microsoft's Internet Explorer browser.
"Our initial review suggests this is a blatant use of the Windows operating system to change the market dynamics of browser usage," Mitchell Baker, chairperson of Mozilla, developer of open-source Firefox browser, told the paper.
There was not anyone at Microsoft that could be reached for comment.
The paper said that Opera, the Norwegian browser company, talked about Mozilla's complaints regarding Windows 7.
Earlier, Microsoft mentioned that the new operating system would have the ability to turn off key programs like Internet Explorer, making it easier to use other browsers.
Next month, Microsoft is scheduled to respond to European Union antitrust regulators in a hearing on charges it sought to thwart rivals by tying the company's Web browser to its Windows operating system.
