Garner to Join AMBER Ready CEO Kai Patterson and Other Dignitaries at Press Conference to be Held at National Press Club in Washington D.C. This Thursday

ROCKAWAY, N.J., May 12 /PRNewswire/ — AMBER Ready, Inc. today announced the expansion of its Board of Directors with the appointment of James Garner, former mayor of the Village of Hempstead, New York and former President of the United States Conference of Mayors.

Kai Patterson, Chairman and CEO of AMBER Ready, stated, “It is with great pride that we welcome Mayor Garner to AMBER Ready’s Board of Directors; the unique perspective and expertise he has gained over a highly distinguished and lauded career in civil service will greatly strengthen and complement the deep and diverse skill sets of our other board members. Moreover, we look forward to benefiting from Mayor Garner’s wealth of knowledge, sphere of influence and strategic direction.”

An internationally recognized proponent for sustainable community development, Garner brings AMBER Ready more than 35 years experience in business and municipal governance. He was the first African-American to be elected mayor on Long Island and remained in office from 1989 through 2005. During his mayoral tenure, Garner led the revitalization and redevelopment of Hempstead, one of the most densely populated villages in the state of New York. In addition, he served as a delegate to the 1986 White House Conference on Small Business and was a panelist on the 2002 White House Conference on Minority Homeownership. In 2003, he was elected as the 61st president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors; during his one-year term, Garner set the Conference’s agenda, appointed committee and task force chairs and served as national spokesman for the nation’s 1183 mayors of cities with populations of more than 30,000. In early 2003, he was also appointed to the United States Small Business Administration’s National Advisory Council. Prior to being elected as mayor, Garner served one term on the Hempstead Village Board of Trustees. A Vietnam-era veteran, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Adelphi University and holds an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Civil Law from Molly College. Throughout his career, he has been distinguished with a number of honors and awards, including National Minority Businessman of the Year.

“Helping parents and those in their communities to be as proactive as possible in protecting children from predators must remain one of our highest priorities,” stated Garner. “In this regard, it is with immense pleasure that I have been asked to join forces with AMBER Ready to aid in perpetuating and enhancing the national movement to equip parents with AMBER Ready’s innovative and effective technology – technology capable of accelerating local law enforcement’s response to a child’s abduction. This is an important mission and one that can positively impact every city and township in America.”

With Garner’s appointment, AMBER Ready’s Board grows to nine members and, in addition to Garner, includes:

  • Kai Patterson, founder, Chairman and CEO of AMBER Ready;
  • Robert Christie, proven business executive with more than 30 years senior management experience working with a wide range of public and private companies;

About AMBER Ready, Inc.

AMBER Ready, Inc. has pioneered the nation’s first wireless program enabling parents to securely store their child’s identity information within their wireless phone and providing the technology platform for police to disseminate an alert from a parents’ wireless phone immediately upon a child being abducted or found to be missing. Through the wireless transmission of stored photographs and descriptive data by police as a Be-On-the-Look-Out (BOLO) or as an official AMBER Alert, the AMBER Ready Program is expected to dramatically reduce the average time between determining a child is missing and the commencement of a meaningful search by local law enforcement, thus significantly improving the odds for rapid recovery. In anticipation of pursuing a public listing in the future, the Company has engaged the firm of John Thomas Financial as its investment banking firm.
