The MicroTCA Summit will bring together vendors and end users to discuss practical information and trends, focusing on MicroTCA’s status as a flexible, powerful approach to building affordable systems equipped with the latest processors and the fastest interfaces to meet today’s requirements for open-architecture COTS applications. It will also cover the new Rugged MicroTCA specification, which can handle demanding military, aerospace and industrial environments.

Mr. Fryar’s presentation is scheduled for the “Developing Wireless Basestations” session on Wednesday, May 13, from 4:30 – 5:50pm. Mr. Fryar will explore the impact of wireless trends such as the increasing demand for multimedia applications, network architecture evolution and base station form factor transition on wireless equipment design. The presentation will highlight the challenges faced by system designers as they address demand for higher bandwidth and lower latency equipment for next generation 3G and 4G cellular and WiMAX networks. Mr. Fryar will propose a solution based on security co-processors that completely offload the backhaul security function from user / control plane processing resources. When implemented, it enables quicker time to market and also addresses non-standards related security issues.
