Verizon Employees at 38 Virginia Locations Donate Nearly $31,000 Worth of Household Items to Local Domestic Violence Shelters Across Commonwealth

Collection of Items Is Part of a Companywide Effort in Conjunction With the National Network to End Domestic Violence

RICHMOND, Va., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon employees at 38 Virginia work locations collected nearly $31,000 worth of items to donate to 14 local domestic violence shelters throughout the commonwealth during a recent 12-day Shower for the Shelter drive.

Nationally, 485 Verizon locations participated in the companywide effort to collect personal care products, clothing and household items for local domestic violence shelters. In all, nearly 200 shelters across the country were assisted.

"Verizon employees have a long history of giving back to the communities where they live and work," said Robert W. Woltz Jr., president of Verizon Virginia. "Organizing a Shower for the Shelter campaign for domestic violence survivors is another way our employees are making a positive impact in their communities."

Verizon partnered with the National Network to End Domestic Violence to coordinate the Shower for the Shelter donation efforts.
