Retail Jobs Still Available at Verizon Wireless Stores on Long Island

BAY SHORE, N.Y., May 18 /PRNewswire/ — Verizon Wireless continues to seek candidates to fill sales positions in its new ‘store-within-a-store’ locations within P.C. Richard & Son showrooms in Nassau and Suffolk counties, while executives of both companies came together this week in Bay Shore to announce the expansion of the partnership that already brings the services of nation’s largest wireless carrier and America’s #1 family-owned and operated appliance and electronic company under one roof in 33 P.C. Richard & Son locations in the New York Metro area. In the coming months, Verizon Wireless kiosks will open in eight more P.C. Richard & Son locations.

Consumers looking for the convenience of one-stop-shopping and job seekers are not the only ones to benefit from the retail partnership. To celebrate the retail expansion, Verizon Wireless made a $5,000 HopeLine donation to the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

“Our expanding relationship with P.C. Richard & Son is a triple win for Long Islanders,” Devlin said. “We are pleased to bring new jobs and added convenience for shoppers here, while at the same time, helping to generate much-needed aid to families impacted by domestic violence.”

HopeLine, Verizon Wireless’ exclusive phone recycling and refurbishing program, collects no-longer used wireless equipment from any wireless service provider at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores. Phones donated to HopeLine that can be refurbished are sold for reuse and those without value are recycled in an environmentally sound way. Proceeds from HopeLine are used to provide wireless phones and cash grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.

Verizon Wireless plans to begin accepting HopeLine donations at its stores within P.C. Richard & Son later this year.

“Our roots go deep here on Long Island and we are pleased that our expanding relationship with Verizon Wireless has resulted in additional help for local families in need,” said Gregg Richard, president of P.C. Richard & Son. “We applaud the very important work done by the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.”

P.C. Richard & Son locations scheduled to house new Verizon Wireless stores include those in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx in New York; Norwalk in Connecticut; and Brick, Mt. Laurel, Eatontown, East Brunswick and West New York in New Jersey.

The need for employees is especially great on Long Island, where 15 new Verizon Wireless stores already are open within P.C. Richard & Son locations. Among the new full- and part-time employees being sought are English-Spanish speaking candidates to meet the needs of the area’s growing Hispanic population. Job requirements include one-to-two years of retail sales or service experience. A college degree is highly desirable. Verizon Wireless is a recognized corporate leader for its commitment to preventing domestic violence and raising awareness of the issue. Since 2001, the HopeLine has donated nearly 80,000 phones with nearly 230 million minutes of airtime and awarded more than $6.3 million in cash grants. Through HopeLine’s efforts, more than 200 tons of electronic waste and batteries have been kept out of landfills.
