Another community radio station has been closed down for interfering with the aeronautical radio and operating without permission from the National Telecommunications Commission.
The station's closure came after six officials from the NTC office and Crime Suppression Division police raided room No 707 of the Rungnapa Mansion on Prachachuen road in Bang Sue district which was being used for running the "FM108 Siamrath community radio station".
Worawut Termthongkham, a technical controller of the station, was arrested and the station's equipment, which included a transmitter and a computer, was seized.
The action followed a complaint filed against the station's operators at the Taopoon police station, accusing them of setting up and operating the station without the NTC's permission and causing interference to the aeronautical radio.
If found guilty, the station operators could face up to five years in prison or a fine of up to 100,000 baht, or both.
Chatchai Buchnont, an NTC official, said the office had sent a warning to the station on 13 June. This was the third community radio station to face closure.
The NTC was also considering legal action against 50 other stations.
