'Best Connected' campaign deploys dynamic social media toolset to strengthen links between Ireland's innovators and US Partners

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Ireland (EI), the Irish Government's export engine for innovative technologies and services created by Irish companies, today launched a new campaign strategy to boost exports for Irish companies in the North American market. The program will initially focus on Ireland's internet and software sectors, where the goal is to drive those sector's revenues to over euro 2.5 billion by 2013. In the US, the campaign - dubbed "Best Connected" - will deploy a comprehensive social media toolset to ignite and strengthen links between Ireland's software innovators and US customers, partners and VCs. The toolset comprises a dynamic real-time communications platform that will empower Irish entrepreneurs to connect sooner and more effectively with US market opportunities.

The campaign kicks off in Silicon Valley this week with events involving Stanford University and the Kauffman Fellows Program.

Ireland's innovation-led economy is the product of a vibrant ecosystem comprised of elements that include a top-class education system, cutting-edge university research, innovative indigenous companies and productive academic/industry partnerships. A national priority to provide startup seed funding and associated assistance through agencies like Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland has helped drive the innovation ecosystem. Additionally, through the efforts of IDA Ireland, the country enjoys an entrenched presence of large global companies. Close collaboration between these interconnected elements is the new imperative for Ireland's success in the global economy.

Now, through its "Best Connected" campaign, Enterprise Ireland is broadening the ecosystem by expanding its network of strategic partners for Irish companies and establishing real-time communication conduits across key sectors. The first campaign step in the US is the launch of a community-building information portal for North American investors, partners and customers at americas.enterprise-ireland.com. The portal's early focus will be on the internet and software sectors, which include telecommunications/mobile, social media/networking, e-learning/education, financial services, information security, and public sector solutions.

According to John McIntyre, EI's west coast manager and senior vice president of software and services, the new "Best Connected" strategy will expand Ireland's innovation reach. "For decades, innovation from Ireland's R&D centers has catalyzed many of the world's successful technology initiatives. Now, by broadening our networks and streamlining the communications channels between Ireland's entrepreneurs and US influencers, we can provide more efficient forums for engagement and mutual innovation exchanges," said McIntyre.
