Open Text to Engage with Government, Business, Academic Leaders on Canada's Future in Digital Media

WATERLOO, ON, June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Open Text(TM) Corporation (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a global leader in Enterprise Content Management (ECM), today announced that the company will be engaging with leading government, business and academic leaders at the inaugural Canada 3.0 Forum taking place June 8-9 at the University of Waterloo's Stratford Institute. Open Text Executive Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer Tom Jenkins will deliver the opening keynote joining a comprehensive list of more than 60 speakers that includes the Honorable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, the Honorable John Wilkinson, Minister of Research and Innovation, and David Johnston, President of the University of Waterloo.

The digital media sector globally is one of the fastest growing industries in the knowledge economy with a forecast of double-digit growth rates over the next five years and is expected to reach US $2 trillion, according to research firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. Canada has an opportunity to provide an enormous boost for the organizations and businesses that work in the digital space and that seek to create companies, jobs, products and services tied to both the digital economy and to Canada. This opportunity is a major factor driving the forum itself and Open Text's support of the event as title sponsor.

Facilitators will lead discussions and encourage the identification of national priorities and development of key stages in a Canada-wide strategy for international competitiveness in the digital media. The Canada 3.0 Forum is being organized by the Canadian Digital Media Network (CDMN) and the University of Waterloo's Stratford Institute (http://tinyurl.com/rdrute). The CDMN (http://tinyurl.com/azjlrp) was established earlier this year through funding from the federal government among others to link Canada's digital media clusters from coast-to-coast, creating a digital convergence corridor and accelerating collaboration between researchers, implementers and entrepreneurs.

UW's Stratford Institute is a think-tank, integrator and training institute devoted to collaboration between digital media, international commerce and culture. The Stratford Institute was established through funding from the Government of Ontario, Open Text and the City of Stratford.

As part of an ongoing investment program in research into digital content management, Open Text announced the contribution of funding, technology and services to establish the Open Text Centre for Digital Media Research at the Stratford Institute.
