Kuwait International Airport witness travelers, flights increase in June
KUWAIT CITY, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwait International Airport has experienced a noticeable increase in travelers and flights in June due to the busy summer season, figures from Kuwaiti Civil Aviation Public Department indicated Sunday.
The KUNA news agency quoted a statement of the department as saying that travelers to and from the airport increased by 9 percent in June compared with the same period of 2004.
The total number of departures in June was 491,000,compared with 449,000 in June 2004, while the total number of arrivals was 217, 500, compared with 200,700 in last June, said the statement.
Commercial flights from and to the airport increased by 6 percent, reaching 3,621 in June, the statement added.
As the busy summer season has started, the Czech, Bulgarian, and Malaysian airlines have resumed their flights to and from Kuwait, while the Egyptian, Turkish, Middle East and Gulf Air have increased their flights.
