RedLightCenter.com Opens Embassy Within Second Life

June 11, 2009

Adult Virtual World Establishes Forum for Discussing Adult Content and Internet Freedom of Speech

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 11 /PRNewswire/ – Utherverse, Inc., developer of virtual worlds RedLightCenter.com and Virtual-Vancouver.com, today announced it will open a RedLightCenter.com embassy within Second Life on Friday, June 12th. The embassy will serve as a forum for discussion about adult content and freedom of speech on the web just weeks after Second Life moved to create additional barriers to entry for adult content within the virtual world.

The embassy will also serve as a meeting place for members of Second Life who are also part of the RedLightCenter.com network to connect and discuss issues relevant to the virtual world.

The creation of the embassy comes only weeks after Second Life established stricter boundaries for adult content. Second Life adult content is now restricted to a special “continent” within the virtual world where users must create a verified account by providing credit card information or by working through Linden Labs filtering system.

“The RedLightCenter embassy was created for RLC users who utilize both virtual world platforms and who requested a place to connect within Second Life,” said RedLightCenter.com co-founder and CEO Brian Shuster. “Because of Second Life’s recent announcement isolating and adding barriers to adult content, the embassy will also serve as a safe haven for Second Life members that would like to discuss their rights regarding adult content.”

As a champion of adult rights and free speech, RedLightCenter.com serves as a virtual network for adults, providing interactive nightlife activities and venues, marketing opportunities for businesses, exposure for the arts, and the opportunity to interact with other adults in a rich, engaging environment. RLC provides its members with unrestricted access to adult content while following strict guidelines for age verification.
