Casting a Wider Net - Two Boston-Area Professional Women's Group Leaders Collaborate to Fill the Boat With Success

BOSTON, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Massachusetts has a thriving community of women entrepreneurs, small business owners and professionals as demonstrated by the more than 200,000 firms owned and run by women. Women grow professionally by building relationships, which are critical to their success. Over 60% of all women business owners conduct some form of "networking" for business development. This is reflected in the robust mix of professional women's business communities and networking groups in Boston and throughout Massachusetts that support and connect women to help both build their businesses and enable them to grow professionally.
Two leaders of Boston-area professional women's groups, Marie Warner and Shelly Berman-Rubera, see an increasing need for cooperation among women's networking groups in order to maintain the momentum of women entrepreneurs' success.
Marie Warner, Managing Director of eWomenNetwork-Boston/MetroWest Chapter relates, "I have seen 'unhealthy' competition first-hand which probably comes about from carrying the spirit of competitiveness too far. With Shelly and I setting the example - it can be shown that far more can be accomplished by cooperation than competition." Warner continues, "At this time in our national and our state economy, women must work together. It has never been more important to help each other build more and better business relationships and access the resources we need to grow."
Shelly Berman-Rubera, President of Women in Business Connection (WIBC) adds "I am committed to the success of WIBC and our mission - but there is a much greater purpose served in helping Massachusetts business women succeed. I view the partnership between WIBC and eWomenNetwork as another way to help our members establish key business connections."
"It's a big enough boat for everyone." Berman-Rubera and Warner agree. With this shared value, it is fitting that their first joint networking event is an Evening of Networking cruise, July 15 on the Charles River. The boat leaves from the pier at the Cambridge Galleria (rain or shine) with boarding at 5:30pm for a 6pm departure and the cruise will last approximately two hours. Parking is available at the Galleria.
Schwartz Hannum PC, a law firm specializing in labor and employment and Fallon Community Health Plan, health insurance provider for individuals, seniors and small businesses, are Corporate Sponsors for the cruise.
