University of California System Implements iJET's Worldcue Solutions for Travel Resiliency

Collaboration with Mercer, ACE Insurance and Europ Assistance USA Helps Protect Thousands of Students, Faculty and Staff Traveling Abroad

ANNAPOLIS, Md., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- iJET Intelligent Risk Systems, a leading provider of global intelligence and business resiliency services, announced an expanded relationship with the University of California System (UC) to provide comprehensive travel resiliency services in partnership with Mercer, ACE USA and Europ Assistance USA. The UC System serves more than 220,000 students and employs more than 170,000 people in California. iJET's intelligence and travel risk management technology solutions protect UC students, faculty and staff traveling abroad to study, teach and represent the UC System.

The expanded iJET services are part of a collaboration with Mercer, ACE USA and Europ Assistance USA, Inc. The group offers multinational clients an integrated solution to manage travel risks by combining valuable emergency medical and security services with comprehensive travel insurance benefits. UC's Office of Risk Services implemented the joint solution as part of a holistic approach to proactively respond to the risks associated with growing study abroad and international "satellite" programs.

"With iJET's technology and expertise, we fulfill a critical need, ensuring our staff, faculty and students have the highest level of support and intelligence available to protect their safety and security," said Grace Crickette, Chief Risk Officer for the UC System.

Through Worldcue, each campus risk manager in the UC System benefits from an automated capture of all traveler information as soon as a reservation is booked, providing the ability to monitor, locate and contact travelers immediately should the need arise. Risk managers have customized views of travelers at any given time, allowing them to quickly identify travelers at risk and communicate in a crisis or in other developing situations - such as last November's terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

"I received a call from one of the faculty members at UC's San Francisco campus who knew one of his colleagues was staying at the Grand Hotel in Mumbai. He was very distraught - in fact, we were all concerned that a faculty member was potentially at risk," said Crickette. "Through Worldcue, we were able to contact the traveler quickly, verify exactly where he was and confirm that he was safe."

Travelers registered through the UC System also benefit from receiving automated trip briefs with customized travel information, as well as specific information pertaining to their travel insurance policies and emergency contacts. Travelers also receive destination-specific alerts sent directly to inboxes, cell phones, PDAs and other devices to keep travelers informed of developing events and issues before, during and after travel.

"A comprehensive travel resiliency program is crucial for any academic institution with international travelers," said Steve Hoffman, CEO of iJET. "We are pleased to be working with market leaders like Mercer, ACE and Europ Assistance to help the University of California System better protect its thousands of faculty, students and staff traveling for international research projects, studying abroad, building medical programs in third-world countries and other business travel. We are proud to be able to include the University of California System in our growing list of higher education clients."

About the University of California System

When it first opened its doors in 1869, the University of California had just 10 faculty members and 38 students. Today, the UC system includes more than 220,000 students and more than 170,000 faculty and staff, with more than 1.5 million alumni living and working around the world.

From its inception 20 years after the California Gold Rush, UC faculty and students have looked to cross the horizons of what we know about our selves and our world, and what we can do in it. That was the vision of the pioneers living at the farthest frontiers of the American continent when they created a University for the Golden State. As we chart our course through the 21st century, the University of California is still at the frontier.

UC researchers are pioneers in agriculture, medicine, technology and the environment. Thousands of California jobs, billions of dollars in revenues, and countless everyday household items - from more plentiful fruits and vegetables to compact fluorescent light bulbs - can be traced back to UC discoveries. Similarly, many of the state's leading businesses have connections to UC. Those companies were either based on technology developed by the university, were founded by our faculty or alumni, or are headed by UC graduates.

UC's ten campuses at Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara provide exciting environments that foster world-class educational and research opportunities and generate a wide range of benefits and services that touch the lives of Californians every day.
