Stratos and Modern Security Solutions to Jointly Market AFIANT Satellite Network Video Management System

BETHESDA, MD, June 29 /PRNewswire/ - Stratos Global Corporation, the leading global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, today announced it has signed an agreement with Modern Security Solutions Ltd. to market the AFIANT Satellite Network Video Management System.

Modern Security, a Stratos partner based in the United Kingdom, developed the AFIANT Satellite system to the specifications of global security professionals. The AFIANT Satellite system is differentiated from traditional digital video recorders and video management systems, as it provides a security platform from which to manage surveillance networks.

The AFIANT Satellite system offers a cost-effective solution for video surveillance and monitoring of remote assets. It is equally suited for asset security in the oil, gas and mining industries, as well as for border security and monitoring. The AFIANT Satellite system delivers remote access via an encrypted web interface or PDA application. The software allows users to set motion alerts and send the alerts via BGAN from the field. Remote users can also login to the AFIANT Satellite system and view live video delivered via the BGAN background IP channel.

The system is comprised of a network video management server which can be connected to either an analog CCTV camera or one of 200 supported network devices. The AFIANT Satellite system is then connected to a BGAN or other satellite terminal providing a complete network management solution for audio and video applications.

Stratos is one of the world's largest distributors of Inmarsat's BGAN service, which uses portable, lightweight terminals to provide simultaneous video (up to 384 kbps streaming), high-speed data (up to 492 kbps) and voice connectivity anywhere in the world. BGAN is ideally suited to enable communications in areas where terrestrial or cellular networks are damaged, congested, non-existent or too difficult to deploy.

Since its introduction in late 2005, BGAN from Stratos has been widely adopted by media organizations, military agencies, first responders and professionals in many other industries worldwide. Stratos now boasts more than 10,000 BGAN activations in 185 countries.
